SMILE®Pro Smile Laser Vision Correction

The upgraded version of "SMILE®pro full femtosecond laser system" uses German Zeiss VISUMAX 800 femtosecond laser device, with a high frequency of 2 MHz, can significantly shorten the vision correction time to 10 seconds. In addition, SMILE®pro is equipped with "Astigmatism Axis Aided Navigation (OcuLign ®️)" and "Visual Axis Aided Navigation (CentraLign®)", which can guide and position more accurately during vision correction, improving surgical efficiency and safety. Although the laser procedure of SMILE technology has been shortened to about 25 seconds, it is still a big challenge for patients who are more anxious and have sensitive eyes to continuously focus on a single fixed point for 25 seconds. However, the "SMILE®pro full femtosecond laser system" greatly shortens the fixation time to about 10 seconds to complete the monocular laser procedure, which can reduce the psychological burden of patients and reduce the potential risks in the process of vision correction.

Astigmatism axis aided navigation OcuLign ®

Before performing laser vision correction, it is necessary to determine the astigmatism axis of the patient's eyeball to ensure that the laser can be applied on the correct astigmatism axis. The "Astigmatism Axis Assisted Navigation" function can display the pre-measured astigmatism axis position in real time, allowing doctors to adjust the laser position during vision correction, thereby improving the accuracy of astigmatism axis positioning.

Boresight Assisted Navigation CentraLign ®

Every human eye has a visual axis deviation called the Kappa angle, which represents the degree to which the visual axis deviates from the center of the pupil. Before performing vision correction, the doctor will obtain the Kappa angle data for reference. The "Visual Axis Assisted Navigation CentraLign®" function can instantly display the pre-measured visual axis position, allowing the doctor to align the center to this point during vision correction, thereby improving the accuracy of vision correction and vision after vision correction quality.

SMILE®Pro Vision Procedure

SMILE®Pro vision correction process is similar to the previous generation SMILE correction, it is a single Step-by-step technology, the middle part of the cornea is directly cut with a laser, and a small incision of 2-4 mm will be made at the same time. The doctor will take out the cut part of the cornea from the incision to change the curvature of the cornea to achieve the corrective effect. However, since the SMILE®Pro laser procedure takes less time and also has an auxiliary navigation function, it is relatively suitable for patients who are prone to nervousness or who pursue more accurate laser technology.

Benefits of SMILE®Pro Smile Vision

  • Compared with the previous generation of SMILE, SMILE®Pro has higher vision correction accuracy and safety
  • Just 10 seconds to complete the monocular laser procedure
  • Shorter visual recovery and recovery time after corrective surgery
  • The effect is more pronounced in patients with deep astigmatism

Eligible Candidates

  • Can correct myopia up to 1000 degrees and astigmatism up to 500 degrees
  • Patients who have sensitive eyeballs, are prone to nervousness, and are worried about laser misalignment due to eye movement
  • Stable degree, age 18-42

Ophthalmology specialists will explain different vision correction information, and you can consult on the spot about vision correction issues, and will also make a preliminary assessment for your eyes at that time. Please call 6888 8811 / make an appointment online for an optometry lecture.

After the examination, the doctor thinks it is suitable for SMILE vision correction, is it also suitable for SMILE®Pro vision correction?

Theoretically, the principles of SMILE and SMILE®Pro vision correction are the same. They both cut the cornea with laser and change the curvature of the cornea to achieve vision correction. The only difference is that the laser and positioning technology upgrades improve the accuracy of vision correction and safety. Therefore, if the doctor thinks it is suitable for SMILE vision correction after the examination, SMILE®Pro vision correction can also be selected theoretically.

Since the technical principle is the same, why choose SMILE®Pro vision correction?

The "Astigmatism Axis Aided Navigation (OcuLign ®️)" and "Visual Axis Aided Navigation (CentraLign®)" equipped with SMILE®Pro vision correction can provide accurate data, allowing doctors to locate faster and more accurately during surgery, which not only improves vision correction The process is more efficient, while improving accuracy, it also reduces potential risks, and it is easier to bring ideal therapeutic effects to patients.

Is Smile XTRA
required?

It is not necessary, the doctor will advise according to the condition of your eyes; if you have a relatively thin cornea/or people with deep myopia, the doctor will suggest you to do corneal collagen cross-linking surgery first to strengthen the cornea and reduce the Degree rebound opportunity.
